Gerson Galante


Gerson is a multi-instrumentalist (saxophone, clarinet, and flute), arranger, and band leader from Sao Paulo, Brazil.  He began his musical studies at the age of 6, and was playing professionally by age 11. After completing his formal music training at the Escola Municipal de Musica, he went on to perform with some of the most famous musicians in Brazil.  In the United States Gerson has performed with The Duke Ellington All Stars Big Band. 

Gerson has recorded  a solo CD, 501, featuring guest artist Ivan Lins, as well as BemDito, and Tribato a Pixinguinha with Itacir Bocato, Banda Brazuca with Joao Cristal, Novo Brasileiro with Bandazul, Maybe September and Uncle Charles with Soundscape Big Band. He recently recorded a new disc with Band Urbana, featuring the music of Rafael Piccolotto.

Gerson’s teaching style is friendly and enthusiastic.  He is an experienced teacher and focuses on the basics and fundamentals.  He stresses the importance of reading music and encourages his students to always do their best.
