Joe Conticello

Joe started piano lessons at the age of 5 and studied piano at The Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts.  Joe graduated from Western Connecticut University with a degree in Jazz Piano Performance. He is currently studying at William Paterson University pursuing a Master’s Degree in Jazz Arranging.

Joe previously taught private piano lessons in Connecticut.  He has also performed with jazz, rock, and pop bands. He regularly composes and arranges music for his own band.  Joe is a Ravinia Steans 2019 Jazz Scholar, Soloist's James Furman Award Winner, and was a Featured artist and finalist in the Hartford Jazz Society's Emerging Artist's Showcase.

Joe’s teaching is centered around a sense of equality between the student and teacher.  He feels it is just as important for the student to bring in music they enjoy playing as it is for the teacher to help them achieve their goals.  He asks what the student’s interests are, and then teaches the student about those topics. This helps both teacher and student contribute to their success, and it makes it easier to help the student learn.
